Band of the day: Lemuria

Not really sure exactly how or when I happened upon Buffalo, NY's Lemuria (two, three years ago now?). It may have been one of those random Myspace finds. In any case, sure glad I DID discovered them, because they have been a favorite of my wife and I for awhile.

We missed them on their last swing through Southern California. Looks like we'll have another chance late in June. Their Myspace page shows a handful of dates in LA/OC. Yippee!

Their release, Get Better, out on Asian Man Records, is very solid, and has had repeated listens by us at home. In an emo vein, a-la Jawbreaker and Pixies. I absolutely love this stuff. Especially the contrast in range of vocals between guitarist, Sheena Ozzella, and drummer, Alex Kerns. This album always brings a smile to my face and is in my "albums to put on when I'm feeling blue and need to perk up".
