Ricardo and I had a bit of non-gig epic adventure on Friday night. He had made his way down to the LBC for a convention, so we met up for some record shopping at Fingerprints and coffee at Polly's both on 2nd street. Hopped up on the bean, we had no gig and needed some music action.

Ricardo, being the better social butterfly and networking person than I am, and always the incubator of motivation and great ideas, suggested we check out a show in Hollywood to schmooze for some future gigs. Wasn't what we expected, so we headed over to The Blvd in Boyle Heights for an epic 15-band festival of stoner/sludge/black/doom metal acts (LA Approved Fest). The guys at The Blvd are awesomely cool and have their finger on the pulse of the scene. Very similar venue to Alex's Bar (same great punk acts tend to play both places).

We only caught about 4 of the acts before these old wimpy bones got tired, but we saw It's Casual (another two-piece, who we would LOVE to play with, hint, hint, wink wink, Eddie... ;) ), The Fucking Wrath, Dead Ghosts and one other act who I have no idea who they were. The bands we saw were great, and represented the health and wealth of the underground metal scene.

One of staples of my pedal board is my Fulltone OCD, a dependable, solid overdrive pedal which if I could only have ONE pedal, the OCD would be hands down the pedal I would choose.
